Anyone that knows Maddie knows that she has a smile on her face that could light up the world. Maddie's life was taken on the night of her 21st birthday and remains in critical condition. She is much loved and is missed everyday by her friends and family. We will never give up. We will never stop praying for her safe return. We will try to update this as much as we can, but with a lot going on right now we cant guarantee anything. Updates 11/16/12 - For the past couple months, things took a turn for the worst. Nothing seemed to be improving. Maddie continued to have seizures, along with fluid build up in her lungs that caused her to have difficulty breathing. 11/19/12 - Maddie was put in a "medically induced coma which requires an extreme type of anesthesia that essentially deactivates the brain, which prevents the patient from being revived or reacting on her own." "Putting the patient, who has already slipped in to a coma, into an induced coma, bears many risks. But it is in the patient's best interest to remain unconscious because the brain must use a lot of energy responding to sense impressions, conscious thoughts and muscle movement when awake."
